Nivas was born & brought up in Kumbhej, a small village in Solapur district. He says, “Village life was tough. Hardship and pain of the farmers moved me deeply. The simple way of living in village and the culture made a deep impact on my over all personality. I am a farmer at heart and art is the language I found to express my life, my dreams and my inner most feelings onto the canvas. My art inspired me to move forward and explore the world beyond the boundaries of my village.I went on to study art at Abhinav art college pune and Sir J.J.School of art Mumbai.”

He visited various art galleries in Mumbai and realized that the subject he was focusing on & creating was completely new for people in the cities. The art there did not show the real world of ordinary people. Painting was a new language for him to express and depict his life experiences. Some of his painting show and depict music through buffaloes, bulls and horses. As though their bodies are making music. Some paintings depict Radha Krishna and their soulful love.

Recently he has tried his hand at abstracts, where in you can experience a beautiful exploration of colours.
